Joël Unleashes ‘Clean Up’ Visual | Sparked by George Floyd Death

R&B recording artist Joël, who hails from Toronto has released his new single “Clean Up.”

The single is produced by Colin Monroe, with the stirring visuals directed by angelicamilash.

Speaking about the track, Joël says; “George Floyd’s death sparked a fire in me. Days later I jumped in the studio & kept asking myself how would Malcolm X feel? There’s a lot of current fuckery going on in the world & I’m honestly just trying to spread awareness the best way I can, CLEAN UP!”

Enough, my skin is black
I can barly eat all the tribulation
Got me clenching down my teeth
Tryna keep the peace”

Based on the life of Malcolm X, the accompanying video further accentuates the revolutionary energy and determination for change communicated in the music.

“The ‘Clean Up’ music video focuses on some of the intimate moments of Malcolm X‘s life as one might wonder about what his days felt like as those of a man with great influence and thirst for change,” video director angelicamilash explains.

“While the POV shots are stylized in 1960s aesthetics and focus on human connection and aspiration for a better future, the modern-day part of the video is portrayed in reverse and with cooler tones, alluding to the fact that sometimes progress includes going backwards before another important push.”

It follows after his 2020 EP release “Grunge Gospel (Side B).” Joël then dropped “Grunge Gospel (Side A & B),” which included the bonus track “Well Done” – a heartfelt tribute to his late grandmother who passed away due to COVID-19.
